• Crematoria situated in:
  • In 1995 there were 8,449 crematoria in Japan. Among these only 1,942 were conducting one or more cremations a year and were operating with three basic elements, i.e. a building, a cremator and air exhaustion equipment. Most of the remaining 6,507 were open-field crematoria, where cremation was conducted with natural materials.
  • *In 1997 approximately 40 crematoria were newly constructed and in 1998 approximately 30 crematoria were newly constructed.
